"I think for a lot of us we all have some personal connection, whether we know somebody in our family, personal friends, work colleagues."
They actively fundraise: hosting a quiz night, asking suppliers to get on board, running raffles and sausage sizzles and also appealing to the company's individual members, social club and company as a whole.
A quiz night at the end of last year raised about $2500 and contributed to the more than $3000 amassed so far as they head for their overall target of $6000.
Ms Hart said they had raised more than $10,000 but had consistently raised more than $5000 since 2014.
General Manager Human Resources Olwen Hyslop believes it is an important cause as the money raised in Hawke's Bay stays in the region and goes towards helping those with cancer, and their families, in the local community.
Ms Hart said it was beneficial for the team.
"Because we are quite a large worksite we don't necessarily mingle with each other so we get people from quite a wide range of divisions all coming together."
"It is strengthening relationships with our staff that we don't see often," Ms Hyslop said.
