As international artists descend on Napier for the Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans festival, a local artist is hoping to make his mark.
From today, 20 artists will be transforming walls around the city into colourful works of art that address pressing ocean environmental issues for the international festival hosted by the PangeaSeed foundation.
Five Hawke's Bay artists will also be involved in the festival, including Napier resident Ren Hardgrave.
The sketch lines of his image already mark a wall in Theatre Lane, off Tennyson St where he will be spending the next week creating a unique eco-tourism mural.
The Napier resident said he was really stoked to be taking part in the festival, "it's my hometown and the cause is pretty cool".
