Police have spoken to the man who allegedly offered a nine-year-old girl a ride in a car outside her school in Peterhead Avenue, Flaxmere on Wednesday.

Constable Michael Kaye of the Flaxmere Neighbourhood Policing Team said police have no concerns after speaking with the man and there was no risk to the community.

"It appears that the girl involved mistakenly thought she was being spoken to about getting into the car, when in fact it was another child being picked up who the man was speaking to."

Mr Kaye wanted to thank the community and the school for their assistance.

The girl and her family did the right thing in raising their concerns with police.

"We are glad to have been able to resolve it for those involved and put the community's minds at ease," Mr Kaye said.
