A $170 cheque is in the mail for electricity account holders in Napier and Hastings, part of a record dividend paid by Unison Networks to the Hawke's Bay Power Consumers' Trust.
It will see almost $10 million released into the Hawke's Bay economy, with 58,000 cheques hitting letterboxes.
Despite recent warm winters, the lines company's dividend has increased every year for the past six.
Last year's cheques were for $150.
Trust chairman John Newland said Unison's focus on efficiency and "embracing new technology" were reasons for the continuing strong results.
