It was standing room only at Showgrounds Hawke's Bay for last night's Hawke's Bay Today Friday Night Extravaganza.
Bolting steeplechasing ponies, roping cowboys and precision riding kept the NRM Horse of the Year Show crowd buzzing at what the commentator called "Woodstock for horses".
Up to 9,000 people are camping at the grounds, with the many overseas visitors and trade stands giving the show an international flavour.
Extravaganza highlight was the trans Tasman showjumping test, with two Hawke's Bay riders helping New Zealand to victory.
Team captain Maurice Beatson from Dannevirke had a difficult first round but his steed on My Gollywog found form second time around. Luke Dee from Ocean Beach rode solidly as did Samantha McIntosh from Cambridge but it was Katie McVean's night with two clear rounds.
