Apartment dwellers may be able to return to where they were born as a range of apartments is developed in the old Napier Hospital's Arohaina Maternity Annexe.
Todd Property Group, which started work on the hospital site by removing older single-storey buildings towards the northwestern end of the hilltop site, is planning 26 apartments in the maternity block, where renovation is expected to be completed next year.
With four sections already sold in the eight-lot first stage, the marketing of the 26 apartments will begin in May.
About 70 per cent of the demolition work in stage three has been completed.
A resource consent application for a mix of housing, including townhouses and apartments, is due to be lodged in May.
