MARK STORY Aron Noble doesn't let students eat during class, so he can hardly expect to do the same. But the Karamu High School teacher needs to eat seven times a day to stay in top shape after winning the Classic Men's section at the weekend's NZFBB National Bodybuilding Champs inWellington. ``I oftenscoff some seeds or nuts between classes, that seems to work okay,' he said. The weekend's win was the second national title for the 33-year-old physical education and art teacher since he began pumping iron at age 11. ``The major thing in this competition was beating Will Garrick, who had won two Natural Olympia titles in the US. It was a huge moment for me beating him.' When he left Central Hawke's Bay High School aged 18, Mr Noble weighed 95kg, yet now tips the scales at 67kg. ``It was never a case of me being a skinny kid and wanting to get bigger,' he said. ``For me, it's all about the love of weight training. ``I remember the first time I picked up something heavy when I was five years old - I enjoyed the sensation. ``I then began nagging my parents to buy me a weight set and it snowballed from there.' And if you haven't seen the champion bodybuilder hanging around the local gym circuit, it's because he trains 100 per cent of the time at Karamu High's gym. ``I take weight training classes and run competitions for students there, and of course other sports teams from the school use the gym. ``The school's been very supportive of what I do. ``Any time we've needed more gear they've been very accommodating.' The immediate goal, after picking up fresh sponsorship through Shotgun Supplements, is to defend his title, before hopefully one day competing overseas.
