Hawke's Bay Today's readership grew by 6000 during 2010, the highest gain in the APN Regional Newspapers group.
Readership of Hawke's Bay Today by all people 15-plus stands at 59,000, making it by far the most-read daily newspaper in the region.
Wellington newspaper The Dominion Post saw its readership fall by 15,000 during the 12 months to December, according to the official Nielsen research.
Hawke's Bay Today editor Antony Phillips thanked readers for their continued support of their regional newspaper.
"Our staff are committed to producing the best regional newspaper in New Zealand, here in Hawke's Bay," he said. "We are thrilled you are reading it and by doing so you are supporting the only newspaper dedicated to our region."
Last week, Hawke's Bay Today posted the top audited circulation figure within APN Regional Newspapers. Circulation at the end of 2010 stood at 24,682 - a decline of just -0.5 per cent.
