Run raises $944

Athlete Perry Newburn has raised $944 through his Countdown Charity Run. Starting at midnight last Wednesday, Newburn ran between all the Hawke's Bay Countdown stores, starting in Napier and heading to Waipukurau and then back through Hastings. He was joined by team members from the Magpies on his last stretch back into Napier in the evening. The money raised will go towards new medical equipment for Hawke's Bay Hospital.

After a successful Hawke's Bay International Marathon, the Environment Centre has been engaged to manage the waste for two events in October. The first is Waka Ama Long Distance Nationals at Napier on October 5 and 6. The second is the Hawke's Bay A&P show on October 17 and 18. Organisers are looking for volunteer Waste Warriors to play a role in helping with both events on their zero-waste event journey. Each event has different start times with a finish time of 5pm for both events and we would like you to work two-hour shifts. If you would like to volunteer or know more then please contact Togia Lui on (06) 870 4942 or email: zerowaste@environmentcentre.org.nz
