Trust allocates $297,221 to region

GRANTS

NEW ZEALAND Community Trust grants totalling $297,221 were allocated to the Gisborne region in February.

The three biggest grants were:

• $110,000 to the Gisborne Netball Centre for salaries for the officials and netball co-ordinator, youth development officer, game development officer and centre manager.

• $56,000 to Swim For Life Tairawhiti for Swim & Survive lessons, and for contractor fee for the trust manager.

• $50,000 to the Gisborne Mountain Bike Club for a gravel loop track in

Whataupoko Reserve.

Other grants approved were:

— $30,670 to Hiruharama School for Phase 1 of bike track construction, and for storage containers.

— $13,000 to Te Karaka Pre-school for a shed for equipment.

— $10,455 to Poverty Bay and East Coast Badminton Association to upgrade the electronic booking system, lighting and security.

— $10,000 to the Gisborne Cycle and Walkway Trust for a contractor.

— $9096 to the Eastland Sports Foundation Education Trust for a contractor.

— $5000 to Gisborne Boys’ High School for travel and accommodation.

— $3000 to Ormond Recreational Association to upgrade clubhouse.

Gaming venues that contributed to the grant total were Bar 59, Bollywood Stars and Sugar.

Grants are decided monthly.
