Covid has hit the DJ Barry Cup cricket competition and both the premier grade matches set down for today at Harry Barker Reserve have been cancelled.

A Poverty Bay cricket spokesman said too many players in all four teams were affected by the virus for the matches to proceed safely.

The Hope Cup competition has not been impacted, and the two play-off games this afternoon were to go ahead as planned.
