Forty-two players entered the Jack Booth Trophy triples tournament sponsored by Ryman Healthcare. Three 75-minute games were played.
The weather was fine until the last game, when it turned cold. Players welcomed afternoon tea, with delicious scones provided by Dianne Oates. The club followed that up with nibbles to accompany refreshments.
Prizes went to third place, with a lucky draw.
Newly appointed Ryman-Kiri Te Kanawa Retirement Village sales adviser Jane Smith presented the prizes.
Coming up: Labour Weekend Monday, October 25, Stonehaven Memorials-Owen Shield Optional Triples Single Entry.
Poverty Bay
Poverty Bay Bowling Club’s popular 2-4-2 mixed pairs tournament could accommodate only 16 pairs so unfortunately some teams missed out on the fun.
It was a perfect day for bowls and the tournament was won by Andrew Ball (skip) and Kathryn Flaugere, who were the only pair to win all four of their games.
Geoff Pinn (s) and Karen Pinn were second with three wins and a draw.
Four teams had three wins, so third place was decided on ends won. Jan Powell (s) and Barrie Denham were the team with most ends, 27.
Prizes were presented by Neil Gooch from Mangapapa Garage, who again sponsored the tournament.
