Dog triallists save the best for last at Waingake

Waingake club members featured on all the courses at their annual club trial on Friday and Saturday, and once again the event titles were shared around.

Ewe lambs were used on all four courses and while they were a bit “sticky” on the zig zag course, Sam Shaw and Lottie showed everyone how it was done.

A new straight hunt course was used and it was well received by the competitors.

Once again Merv Utting showcased his skills with another win in the shorthead and yard with Guy.

Ruie Bridge, Luke Scragg, Noddy Halley, Brad McHardy and Henare Walker were the Waingake triallists to feature.

Judge Bo Milner commented that the small Waingake community needed to pat themselves on the back for running such a successful trial, the last of the season for the Poverty Bay Centre. There are still other trials out of the district next weekend for competitors to qualify their dogs for the national championships.
