A car sits abandoned on Titirangi/Kaiti Hill after inadvertently being driven off the lookout last night. No injuries were reported.

Witnesses on social media said the car had been parked in the carpark at the top lookout when the engine revved, the car ploughed through the railing and went 15 to 20 metres down the side of the hill.

Witnesses later said people in the car could be heard singing while stuck down the hill.

When police arrived, the people in it had gone and they found alcohol in the car. An inquiry is under way.
