THE body of a man found inside a crashed vehicle on Lake Road at Tuai inland from Wairoa on Saturday is believed to be missing Hawke's Bay man Wayne McGillen.

Police were alerted about the crashed vehicle at around 3.40pm on Saturday.

“On arrival at the crash scene, they located a man deceased in the vehicle,” police said.

“Pending the outcome of the formal identification process, we believe the deceased to be 53-year-old Mr McGillen.”
