The swirl of vibrant dresses and snappy, stylish hats will be on full show today at this year's running of the Melbourne Cup.
But if you're not in Melbourne for the big race itself, you can still get a slice of glitz and glamour right here in Tauranga.
A number of pubs are putting on celebrations in an effort to match the excitement happening across the ditch.
From the serious and skilled punters to amateurs going more by name or the colourful silks of the jockeys, there's something for everyone.
So grab your sweepstake draw and your heels and hats, and head to one of the below.
The main race kicks off at 5pm but the festivities begin much earlier.
Mount Maunganui:
Seasoned punters can mull over the form guide and assess the odds at the Flyover Tavern, where a $15 entry will get you into a range of prize draws and your hat could win you $50. There will also be a barbecue.
At Imbibe Bar and Restaurant in Mount Maunganui the crew are going all-out from 3pm.
Imbibe's Morris Danks said two miniature horses would be "dressed up to the nines" and click-clacking inside and outside the bar.
In addition to this, staff will don shirts and ties, and dish out complimentary bubbles and chocolate strawberries. There will be balloons, sweepstakes, mystery trifectas, two-for-the price-of-one stonegrill meals, and the bar has its own bookie.
There is a prize for best-dressed male and best-dressed female. Each prize is valued at $150.
Stock Xchange Bar and Cafe will be showing the race and running drink specials.
You can place bets at Mount Turf Bar and TAB and enjoy complimentary nibbles before and after the main race.
Tauranga:

There is music to be enjoyed at Cornerstone Pub on The Strand from 6.30pm, when band Deviate takes to the stage. A corporate area of 10 tables under a marquee was booked out well in advance, but there's still plenty of room for all to enjoy.
Cornerstone opens at 12.30pm.
Also celebrating on The Strand is De Bier Haus, who from 4pm-6pm are having High Tea at $37 per person - bookings essential. There's also bar tabs for the best dressed and live music from 6pm.
Te Puke:

Molly O'Connors will show the race on the big screen and there is an in-house sweepstake running.
Stadium Sports Bar is open from 10am and you can place your TAB bets there.
Katikati:
Talisman Hotel and The Boohai will both air racing. The Boohai has TAB facilities and is open from 10am. They encourage punters to dress up with spot prizes for best-dressed and best hat.
Papamoa:
The first 50 people through the doors from 4pm at Rain Bar will receive a free glass of bubbles. There are also drink specials, and a bottle of wine for the best dressed man and woman.
