A Tauranga labourer has been accused of stealing 40 beehives and receiving another $58,000 worth of stolen hives.
Paul Martyn Hutton, 46, of Lower Kaimai faced seven charges of receiving stolen property and one charge of theft when he appeared in the Tauranga District Court at Tauranga yesterday .
Police
allege Hutton stole 40 beehives valued at $24,000 from Katikati Honey Limited and received $58,658 worth of stolen hives from persons unknown.
The offences are alleged to have been committed in Tauranga, Katikati and Wairoa between December 18, 2016 and September 12 this year.
Hutton, who is yet to enter pleas to the charges, did not seek bail.
