Six-year-old badly injured after fall

A six-year-old Waihi boy is in Waikato Hospital after falling from his bike while riding down a gravel slope.
The boy was riding when he fell over the bike's handle bars, hitting his head and injuring his face.
His helmet was broken apart with the impact.
St John paramedics treated the boy and he was flown by the TrustPower TECT Rescue helicopter from Tauranga Hospital to Waikato Hospital.
He suffered a serious head injury but was recovering this morning.
