"Head Job Hell" - it's fair to say this sums up the last few years for AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd but he is putting all that behind him, and a healthier Phil is back in black with the release of his 11-track solo album Head Job.

This weekend Rudd released the full video of the title track from the album - a return to his thumping rock style.

The video was filmed in Tauranga and featured Rudd on his Sonor drums at home with Kiwi musicians Allan Badger, of Rotorua, and Geoffrey Martin of Auckland with whom he recorded the album.

Scenes also featured Rudd driving his red Ferrari along the Tauranga waterfront, walking along Pilot Bay and flying his chopper from Tauranga airport.

The video was recorded this month with Rudd's London-based producer Simon Britton and Big Al of record company Wave 365 Media, who Rudd signed a deal with in August.

Britton and producer Daryl Demarco spent four weeks in Tauranga with the rocker.

"It was a lot of fun kicking around with my mates - getting ready to tour, keeping Big Al happy and well fed," Rudd told the Bay of Plenty Times.

Rudd's Rotorua-based girlfriend, fashion and wedding photographer Michelle Cutelli, played a key role in the video production, auditioning local models for the shoot.

"Everyone as a team pulled together, we got a great music video with some wonderful memories as a result. Phil, Geoff and Badge nailed it, that is essentially what we wanted to reflect in the video. Plus we made friends for life with exciting times on the horizon," said Cutelli.

The woman featured in the video is local girl Larissa Allen, who is a consultant at Tauranga firm Metro Marketing.

Allen, 25, was third in this year's Miss Universe New Zealand competition and a contestant in the Indulge Bay Model competition.

A member of Tauranga Sunrise Rotary Club, she is one of New Zealand's youngest Rotarians and is applying to join the New Zealand Police.

Allen appears in the video in the role of Rudd's 'tormentor', glamorous in velcro curlers, she gives him the "head job hell" before he escapes in his Ferrari.

"Screaming at someone doesn't come normal to me, but we had a lot of fun with it and there were plenty of laughs in between takes. It was great working with the team on this one and everyone was super professional and welcoming.

"The song is really catchy too," Allen said.

On Rudd's fan page, fans were delighted to see a healthy tanned-looking Rudd after the 62-year-old rocker had a brush with death earlier in the year when he had a heart attack.

Comments from fans around the world included: "You're missed, welcome back man" "Great work bro, love the hometown touches Phil" and "He's back in black man... keep rocking."
