A Gate Pa man on home detention has been refused bail after armed police allegedly found a loaded pistol and chemicals and drug paraphernalia used in the making of P in his home. Anthony Harvey, 27, faced a raft of firearm and drugs charges when he appeared in Tauranga District Courtyesterday. Police allege that after they executed a search warrant at Harvey's Bongard St home yesterday morning they found precursor ingredients acetone and hypo phosphorous acid, glassware, drug utensils, plus a loaded, cut-down .22 pistol in his bedroom.
Harvey faced in court one charge each of possession of a utensil for smoking cannabis, possession of a precursor equipment, glassware which was intended to be used to produce or manufacture P, possession of glass pipe for consuming P, unlawful possession of pistol, and possession of an explosive. Harvey is also charged with possession of precursor material hypophosphorous acid and possession of precursor substance acetone, with the intention that these items were to be used to produce or manufacture P.
Community Magistrate Lesley Jensen remanded Harvey in custody without pleas. He will be back in court tomorrow. Meanwhile, after a police raid of a house in 21st Ave, Tauranga South, about 5.50am yesterday, a 20-year-old unemployed man was charged with receiving. The charge related to a laptop. A 39-year-old hairdresser, believed to be the man's partner, was also arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine pipes and possession of class B ecstasy.
