Man arrested on bestiality charges

A Bay man arrested over the weekend and charged with bestiality has appeared in court.

The accused, in his 20s, is yet to enter a plea to the charge which allegedly involves a dog.

He was granted interim name suppression in Tauranga District Court yesterday.

He was granted bail on strict terms including a ban on him having any unsupervised contact with animals.

The issue of name suppression will be revisited at his next court appearance later next month.
