The grueling Nugget multi-sport festival kicked off in Waihi today.
Cyclists rode into Waihi Beach for the first leg of the event before making riding 23km to Bowentown.
Participants then took to kayaks paddling 10km before another 10km road cycle which was followed by a 10km trail run.
