The creme de la creme of Tauranga Christmas light displays will be served up to lucky people on board the Christmas Light Trail Bus Tour this year.

The light trail is a highlight of the festive season in the Bay with houses across the city lighting and decorating their homes and front lawns.

A one-of-a-kind Above and Beyond bus tour will be on offer this year for people keen to get into the spirit of the season for a one-night event.

Patrons will start the evening by enjoying carols and a photo with Santa at Above and Beyond Education and Care Centres Te Puna before being collected by buses.

Bay of Plenty Times marketing manager Samantha Dowling said it was a pleasure to be organising such a fun event.

"It will be a great way to celebrate the festive season with only the best lights on show, plus fun and activities along the way," she said.

"The lights trail is a huge part of Christmas in the Bay and we want to help as many people enjoy them as possible. There will also be a few surprises along the way for people on board and we'll be stopping off at some of the larger displays."
