Historical city building given new colour

One of Tauranga's historical showpieces, the Brain Watkins House is being re-painted in a shade described as being more fitting to its heritage status.
The roof of the 130-year-old homestead at the corner of Cameron Rd and Elizabeth St will be coloured a darker shade of red once the paint job is finished this week.
Tauranga Historical Society president Shirley Arabin believed the tone was "more of a heritage colour".
The makeover, funded by grants from the Lotteries Commission and the Acorn Foundation, follows an extensive treatment for borer undertaken last month.
