Customers threaten mechanic

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information relating to an incident where a Papamoa mechanic was threatened by customers.
The mechanic was working in Ashley Place at 9.20am yesterday when a vehicle with two men drove in. The driver got out and asked the mechanic to look at the engine.
When the mechanic looked under the bonnet the driver made threats to him. The Bay of Plenty Times understands the threats involved a gun.
The mechanic ran to a nearby building and called police while the driver got into the mechanic's work truck and drove away. It has still not been found.
The truck is described as a white 1999 Mazda Bounty double cab with shark stickers on the side, registration number YL7110.
The driver was a Caucasian with sandy short hair in his late 20s or early 30s and about 180cm tall. He was clean shaven, wearing an olive-green hooded sweatshirt.
