Arataki Superette was robbed at knifepoint on Friday afternoon when the sole female employee, a Korean woman, was told to hand over cash and cigarettes. She did as she was asked and the offenderleft the shop on foot. A 16-year-old boy was arrested later after he was seen acting suspiciously near a motorcycle shop on Cameron Rd, Tauranga. He has been charged with both aggravated robbery and unlawfully being in an enclosed yard in relation to the motorcycle shop. Detective Sergeant Pete Blackwell said staff arrested the boy about 8pm on Friday. A constable thought he looked similar to the offender caught on CCTV at the superette. Mr Blackwell said a weapon and some of the stolen cigarettes had been recovered. He said the robbery victim was relieved after being extremely traumatised by the robbery. The boy, from Mount Maunganui but of no fixed abode, is due in Youth Court today.
