Preparation for a reconstruction of the grounds and play area at Beach Kids has inspired a fundraising disco.
From mosaics at the entrance to seating, bridges and blue and red coloured perspex around the courtyard, the grounds will incorporate native plantings with an overall beach theme.
"The kids are really looking forward
to it," says Beach Kids owner Eileen Coulter. "It's going to look amazing."
She says ideas for the grounds have come from the parents, children and staff.
"It's been a collective thing and taken us a year to get it through to the planning stage."
She says inspiration has come from their surroundings - part of the pre-school's philosophy "which embraces our early childhood curriculum Te Whariki, and is both influenced and inspired by the surrounding natural and physical environment."
The midwinter Christmas adult/child disco is planned for September 25, and will include singing and dance items from Beach Kids pupils.
