Heavy rain may be on the cards for the Bay this Wednesday and Thursday.
MetService said today a trough of low pressure was expected to lie slow-moving just west of New Zealand through to Thursday.
It was expected to direct a northeast to easterly airstream over northern and central areas, the announcement said.
There is a moderate risk of heavy rain accumulating to warning levels over Northland and Auckland on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This is expected to continue down to Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne on Wednesday and Thursday.
