Kiwi legend Annie Crummer is in the thick of Annie-fever ... everyone wants a piece of Annie at the moment.

She is joining an all-star cast of singing talent with the annual summer One Love 2018 - which comes to Tauranga on January 27-28 - and has never been more in demand.

Apart from being a ball of energy, fun and positivity (even after 10 interviews) Annie is also as humble as they come.

"I'm just the same as anyone else at Pak'nSave, it's just my super power - which we all have - has brought us here today talking."

Annie looks back on her career and can't quite believe she is "still getting by on a few songs".

But Annie has been continuously working throughout the years.

She does something every single day that involves furthering her professional career.

"Even if it is sending an email - that is ticked as doing something towards my craft because that is the one best nourishment that will fulfil me."

Many are familiar with Annie's early career as the voice of Kiwi bands Netherworld Dancing Toys and When The Cat's Away. But she is also a respected musical actress.

She was a soloist in Australian musical Rent and played the Killer Queen in We Will Rock You for five years.

"Rent was my first musical and I can't believe I got that. You learn so much - you learn punctuality, discipline and you learn that if you are not feeling well, too bad 'go out and be excellent now'.

"When you work on musicals you need to be awesome every day, not average.

"I do believe things present themselves to me to learn, and I do like to challenge myself. I like to freak myself out."

Playing the Killer Queen "shredded" her vocals, she says. "I was dancing vocally outside of the honey I was blessed with. As a singer, when you lose your voice you feel like you have lost everything because it messes with your confidence."

Annie's "honey" is her voice, or "super power". "We all have them," she says.

She will be releasing her third album next year. Annie toured with the Modern Maori Quartet which inspired her to start writing again.

"That's the thing about creative artists, we wait for the clouds to subside ... you don't just 'write a hit song - go!' It doesn't work like that.

"I have written 19 songs and they are ready to go, I just have to action it. I'm trying to make it happen there's just so much I want to do at the moment."

Annie says she's been testing out different genres so expect the unexpected for her new album. She doesn't want to divulge too much. "I can always see the good in things. My songs are always about the love and even the 'angry songs', you can still have warmth in there."
