Employees at some of the country's biggest law and accountancy firms say many new graduates now wear particularly inappropriate clothes and need schooling in what not to wear.

Angela Stone, who is hired by companies as a fashion consultant, says graduates fail to realise how important image is to their employer.

    "I hate how old fashioned this "dress code" is. I laugh when I see a man in his 40's sweating through the day in his shirt, tie and jacket, just because he wants to feel "corporate"."

    "Dressing well means that you have self respct and respect for your job and your clients. If the dress code is slippng, then it is a reflection of the status of society."
