HAGATNA, Guam (AP) A Guam woman is pleading guilty to counterfeiting $50 bills.
The Pacific Daily News (http://bit.ly/1b1Qvqa ) reports Reneelinette Penarubia Mesa admitted to one count of making photographs in the likeness of U.S. currency.
A plea agreement Mesa signed in federal court says she and her co-defendant
washed the ink off the paper of lower-denomination bills, typically $1 or $5.
They then allegedly scanned a $50 bill into a computer and printed the image onto the washed bills.
Court documents say the bills couldn't be detected with anti-counterfeit pens because the pens can't uncover fake bills printed on U.S. Treasury paper.
