Whanganui visitors travelling on the Waimarie paddle steamer were impressed by the quick actions of skipper Don McGhee.
Paul Naumam and Jakki Brodie, visiting from New Plymouth said a boat belonging to Whanganui Scenic Experience Jet stalled at Upokongaro while they were travelling on 120 year-old steamer.
"The jet boat stalled as it was making a wide turn and fantastic captain Don was very concerned about a fellow boat on river.
"With great navigating he and the crew rallied round.
"It was all very all very professional and he kept us all informed of what was happening.
"It seems like anything can happen on a paddle boat river cruise."
Ms Brodie took some Video of the jet boat being towed behind the Waimarie before it was safely deposited at the boat club.
Ms Brodie said a cruise aboard the Waimarie is "highly recommended."
"Everyone's safety is paramount on the water and it was great to see how quickly the crew responded."
The Waimarie was just a few minutes late returning her passengers to Hatrick's Wharf on Monday.
