There is a saying doing the rounds that summer has been "slow to load" this year and warm days without wind and rain have been few and far between.
This has not prevented members of Wanganui Arts Society from taking up their brushes and needles to produce an exhibition titled "Summer" currently showing at Cooks Gallery in Trafalgar Place.
The 34 works by 15 artists include oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings along with patchwork fabric and embroidered pieces.
"Some of them were done during holidays in different parts of New Zealand or overseas but there are quite a few local scenes as well," says society member Barbara Vine.
Judy Webby's acrylic paintings include two scenes of Whangaehu Valley and one of Mt Ruapehu.
