Whanganui craftsmen Paul Jackman is making a business out of nothing - he calls it Cliffside Creations.
It started with a "rustic charm" and a few recycled wooden pallets. It has quickly flourished into a successful part-time operation.
From bar stools made from the old Royal Wanganui Opera House seating to coat racks made with old spoons, Mr Jackman is "making things out of nothing".
He shifted from Auckland last year with his wife, who has a disability, and 5-year-old son. Working full time for a lawn-mowing company and caring for his wife as well as keeping up with Auckland living costs became unmanageable.
When the entrepreneur moved to Whanganui he planned to start up something for himself that gave him the flexibility to look after his wife and be there for his son.
