An online appeal for funds to help injured Whanganui/Palmerston North man Jesse Minnell and his family had raised $2260 by Friday morning.
The Givealittle page was only started on Wednesday, by Shayla Johnson on behalf of Mr Minnell, his friends and his family.
Mr Minnell, 24, was injured in a hit and run accident in the early hours of October 22, as he left Whanganui's Red Lion Inn. The Givealittle page said he was working and studying in Palmerston North but had gone home to Whanganui for the weekend to see his mother and his friends.
He suffered serious head injuries, and was initially in Wellington Hospital's intensive care unit in critical condition.
His condition has stabilised, and he can smile and talk again. He has even asked for some KFC, which showed "not a lot has changed", the web page said.
He has been moved to a neurology ward for help with his head injury, and is still in a stable condition.
Money raised will be put into the bank account of his mother, Cathy Minnell. It will be spent on living costs during his recovery, and also help his family, who are staying with him.
