Vacancies for skilled jobs in the Wanganui area were down this July on last, but a local recruitment boss says flood repair work is keeping those with some skill sets busy.
Skilled vacancies for the combined Wanganui, Manawatu and Taranaki areas were down 5.3 per cent this July on last, according to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment's Jobs Online Monthly Report.
There was no change in the number of vacancies between this June and July.
Jobs Online monitors vacancies advertised by businesses on SEEK, Trade Me Jobs and the Education Gazette.
Alex Hapuku, relief manager with AWF (formerly Allied Work Force), said the job market was currently quiet for skilled workers.
