The Royal New Zealand Air Force will hold one of its largest training exercises for the year over the Wanganui district this week.
The training exercises, carried out by No40 Squadron using two C-130H Hercules aircraft, will have drop zones in the Santoft, Waverley and Stratford areas.
"The Wanganui and Taranaki regions are an excellent training location for us and we are appreciative of the local support we receive," said Air Commodore Kevin McEvoy.
"People might notice our aircraft flying at lower altitudes than usual but all RNZAF flying operations are conducted with safety in mind and meet civil aviation regulations."
The C-130H will be based out of military air base Ohakea for both exercises. All airdrop cargo will be collected by an army company.
