A bottle of bourbon, a shelf of wine, and a liquor store window in Marton all broke under the wrath of a man who received an "upsetting" text message.
Malcolm Rapana appeared in Whanganui District Court yesterday on a wilful damage charge after he threw a bottle of whisky at a shelf of wine at Marton Wholesale Liquor.
Prosecutor Sergeant Drew Morrison said the liquor shop employee behind the counter asked what was wrong, but Rapana ignored him and headed to the front door, smashing the window as he went.
Mr Morrison said Rapana later sought medical attention for his hand.
Defence lawyer Stephen Ross said Rapana was in the store when "he received a text message that upset him sufficiently that he went stupid".
