What was your greatest holiday?
I went to Alaska in December and it was a wonderful trip. My brother lives there in Anchorage. I love snow and have an enviable collection of thermal socks so I was in my element.
And the worst?
We went to the Azores about three years ago. It rained biblically for the 10 days we were there. The nearest town to where we were staying stank of its tuna canning factory and the local delicacy was loose blood sausage and grilled limpets.
If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
I went on this stupidly high zip line thing in Roatan, an island off Honduras. It was only when I set off on that I remembered how bad I was with heights. I nearly passed out dangling 100 feet above the trees.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
I brought back wood termites buried in my backside from Borneo. Granted, as souvenirs go they weren't the best but it's a good after dinner story.
Favourite airport to land at?
Queenstown has to win that prize. The backdrop of the Remarkables is hard to beat.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
Next month, I am going on a four-day dive trip to Lanzarote. They have just opened Museo Atlantico, a sculpture museum on the seabed that you dive around. I'm curious to see if they have a gift shop.
