ICC match referee Hanumant Singh fined four Sri Lanka players 25 per cent of their match fees for unnecessary appealing and running towards the umpire in the first cricket test against England at the Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka yesterday.
Singh said that he was not fully satisfied and convinced by the explanations put forward by the four players.
The four players are Muttiah Muralitharan, Mahela Jayawardene, Russel Arnold and Kumar Sangakkara.
Singh said these players contravened the spirit of the game and breached Code 1 and 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the test, won by an innings by Sri Lanka.
