Betting on mixed martial arts has arrived in New Zealand just in time to catch the tail end of Kiwi star Mark Hunt's career.
TAB betting went live today, with the 41-year-old Hunt fighting former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in Brisbane on Sunday.
The TAB has been trying to get MMA on board for a couple of years - a sport has to be ratified by Sport New Zealand if it is to join the TAB stable.
MMA has become the 33rd TAB sport, and the national federation will enjoy a pay out from the TAB -1% of turnover and 5% of profit.
There will be four categories of betting on MMA - head-to-head, method of victory, round of victory, and will the fight go the distance? Hunt has opened as the $1.55 favourite, with Mir paying $2.35.
