Rugby: Whitelock and Crotty out of final

Injuries have ruled out Adam Whitelock and Ryan Crotty from the Canterbury team to play Auckland in the ITM Cup premiership final in Christchurch on Saturday.

Wing Whitelock and second-five Crotty were both injured in last weekend's semifinal win over Taranaki.

Tom Taylor joins Robbie Fruean in the midfield, with Telusa Veainu and Willi Heinz, normally a halfback, named on the wings.

Canterbury will sport two All Blacks' props in their starting XV, with Wyatt Crockett and Ben Franks named in the front row.

The Canterbury team to play Auckland in the ITM Cup premiership final at AMI Stadium in Christchurch on Saturday, kick-off 7.35pm, is: Johnny McNicholl, Telusa Veainu, Robbie Fruean, Tom Taylor, Willi Heinz, Tyler Bleyendaal, Andy Ellis, Luke Whitelock, Matt Todd, George Whitelock (c), Dominic Bird, Joel Everson, Ben Franks, Ben Funnell, Wyatt Crockett. Reserves: Codie Taylor, Joe Moody, Jed Brown, Jordan Taufua, Matthew Thatcher, Kolio Hifo, Stephen Gee.
