A man stabbed in the head and arms six times yesterday called for help from the Te Ngae Shopping Centre car park.
Rotorua police and St John Ambulance found the man, aged in his 30s, outside the police station near the Owhata Rd entrance to the car park, about 3.50pm.
Sergeant Jason Henderson said the man had "superficial" stab wounds to the top of his head and arms. The man, who was stabbed before arriving at the car park, called emergency services from a cellphone.
An Ambulance North Communications spokesman said the man had been stabbed six times and was considered status 3, which meant moderately injured. He was taken to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.
The Rotorua CIB is investigating.
