A speeding motorcyclist who allegedly failed to stop for police and made a run for it in Tauranga overnight was tracked down by a dog unit.
Police said a pursuit began when the man failed to stop on Cameron Rd around 7.50pm.
A police media spokeswoman said the motorcyclist was travelling 40km over the speed limit. Officers were were called following reports of a person speeding on a motorcycle through Oropi.
"They were doing 90km in a 50km zone," she said.
The man allegedly left his bike during the pursuit and fled on foot at Gamman Mill Rd in Oropi about 8pm.
