Body found in Feilding home believed to be there for several days

Fire and emergency services have confirmed a decomposing body has been found at a Feilding home.

A police media spokesman said at the request of Fire, police were called to a sudden death on Grey St in Feilding at 2.08pm yesterday.

"According to the job sheet, all indications are that this was a medical event.

"The matter will be referred to the Coroner."

Feilding chief fire officer Brendon Shanks said they were alerted to an incident just after 2pm to help gain entry to the property.

He said it appeared the body had been there for "at least a couple of days".

Fire services immediately contacted police for further assistance.

Shanks said he could not provide further detail, with emergency services remaining at the scene for more than two hours.
