A Navy sailor has admitted supplying the B Class drug MDMA to two shipmates in Australia.
Aaron Crossley, a diver, has been before a court martial this morning held on board the HMNZS PHILOME at the naval base in Auckland.
Crossley acquired two MDMA capsules from an associate in Cairns, and gave them to shipmates at a bar on last June 12.
One of the men, who had been drinking heavily, had a severe adverse reaction and was later seen struggling to control his movements.
The group was on a stopover en route to Hawaii at the time. The group was from HMNZS Te Kaha which was on its way to the massive RIMPAC military exercise.
Twenty-seven nations, 45 ships, five submarines and more than 200 aircraft took part.
The court martial started this morning and had been set down for three days.
