A Whanganui couple who won $333,333 on Lotto's First Division plan to take a holiday and help their children pay their mortgages.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, found out they had won while they were having dinner at their daughter's house last Wednesday night.

The woman said she decided to check her Lotto numbers online.

"When I looked down at our ticket I couldn't believe my eyes, all our numbers lined up. I then ran into the lounge and told the family that we had won Lotto.

"My daughter just laughed and said, 'Mum, you've had too many wines'."

The woman said once the win had been confirmed everyone "got excited". The family celebrated by popping a bottle of champagne.

"We just couldn't stop laughing - it was such a wonderful moment to share."

She said they planned to spend the money on a tropical holiday and helping out their children with their mortgages.

The couple bought their ticket at Trafalgar Lotto. This is the 10th First Division ticket sold at Trafalgar Lotto, making it the third-highest store in the Whanganui-Rangitikei region for Lotto First Division wins.
