One man has been arrested after police pursued a vehicle across Auckland today.

The chase began in Whitford about 12.15pm and the vehicle was chased by police as far as the Razorback Rd area, north of Pokeno.

A police spokesman said the vehicle fled from police for about 30 minutes, but the actual pursuit was shorter than that, due to police losing sight of the relocating the car.

The spokesman was unsure of why the vehicle was being pursued.
