A motorcyclist who prompted a high-speed chase in Kihikihi this morning was found hiding in a nearby property thanks to a tip-off from a member of the public.
The man fled when a police officer attempted to pull him over for driving on the wrong side of the road in Kihikihi.
A high-speed chase ensued when he raced off towards Te Mawhai Rd, about 3km out of Kihikihi in rural Te Awamutu. Police lost sight of the driver, but caught up with him minutes later after a member of public pointed police to the driveway the motorbike disappeared down.
Waikato District Command Centre senior sergeant Robbie Hermann said the occupants of the Te Mawhai Rd property did not know the man.
"He just went into a person's property and he was arrested and bike impounded."
