The ever increasing scourge in Auckland traffic is queue jumping - those who come from the back down to the front and expect to be let in. Worse still are the idiots who let them in!

I needed to exchange a tube of paint for a rather more expensive block of clay at the French Art Shop in Taylors Rd behind St Lukes. I had no change so would have to put the difference on my credit card. "Don't worry about it," said the friendly man behind the counter, "I'll take this, you take that ... that's just how we roll around here". What a lovely attitude.

Being an elderly person on a limited income, I prefer to pay bills in cash or by cheque to be able to gauge what funds I have available at all times. I find it annoying that Mercury Energy has stopped sending reply envelopes with its accounts to discourage payment by cheque.

Driving home across the Tauranga harbour bridge this week I saw a young man stop and help an elderly couple who had stopped on the shoulder. When open, the driver's door jutted out as trucks were blustering past. The good Samaritan safely pulled the car in and directed them to the nearby marina to assess their car.

All outdoor rock concerts have seating and standing areas. Fans who purchase seating then stand up in front of others are plain selfish. They should purchase tickets in the standing area.

I have been catching Auckland trains twice a day for over 10 years and have not seen any bad behaviour from train conductors. They have always been friendly and helpful. So Benjamin, you can't judge all conductors on the experience of one trip and one conductor who might have been having a bad day.
